About Us
Change the conversation. Change the relationship. Change can happen.
We are the 4Rs Youth Movement.
As young people from across diverse nations, we believe in the power of conversation to transform relationships. Our mission is to change the country by changing the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people.
This starts by finding the strength that is deep within us as individuals, revitalizing and celebrating Indigeneity, and finding unity in our diversity. By carefully supporting and creating spaces for cross-cultural dialogue, we want to help shape a new understanding and a new relationship that is based in respect, reciprocity, reconciliation, and relevance.
Face-to-face dialogue is key to transformation. By developing a wholistic framework for cross-cultural dialogue that is centered in Indigenous knowledge, informed by anti-oppression practice, and guided by social innovation theory, 4Rs is trying out a new approach to creating opportunity for deep connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth. By being respectful in our approach, and with reciprocity in mind, we hope our framework will support connections that will be relevant to this generation of change-makers that lead to the beginnings of reconciliation we want to see in our communities.
4Rs has been seeded and continues to grow through the leadership of and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people. We are a youth-led initiative from our governance to our staff, supported by 14 founding partners: five national Aboriginal organizations, five national youth-serving organizations, and four foundations. We are tapping into the innovation and potential of young people to reframe the narrative for Canada, and we need your help to tell that story.
The 4Rs Youth Movement is a youth- driven initiative that was launched to transform the country by creating brave spaces to raise awareness and change the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous young people. All of this requires your participation and your engagement to succeed. You have the potential to make a difference in your community.
