What are we asking?

We are looking to bring together teams of 2-4 young people between the ages of 18-30, to join our National Learning Community (NLC) of organizers. As part of the NLC, you will be invited to create opportunities for self-determined reconciliation and decolonization initiatives in your community while being given the opportunity to focus on your wellbeing and fill your bundles with new knowledge from across movements.

Who is the NLC for?

4Rs is looking for young people who are searching for opportunities to grow and change personally, who want meaningful support to implement a project/gathering, and who are looking for new approaches and skills to transform how they work within their community or as part of larger movements.

Is that you? Apply as a team by May 29th, 2022

Do you know people who motivate you, strengthen and balance you, who support and inspire you to do things together that you could never do alone? People who you want to learn and grow with? Apply by May 29th to join our 2022-23 National Learning Community!

Who should apply/how many team members?

Groups of 2-4 people who want to work together and learn together as a team. Unfortunately, at this time, you cannot apply alone.

How to apply?

Each team member needs to fill out an INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION, and the team needs to work together to submit a TEAM APPLICATION.

When do you need to apply?

The deadline for both the individual and team application is May 29th, 2022.

Have any other questions?

Refer to our Frequently Asked Questions page. Still not sure? Contact us with our contact form at the bottom of this page!

While we encourage all types of reconciliation based projects, 4Rs will prioritize applications focusing around: displaced Indigenous peoples and refugees, two-spirit and LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC relations and identities, Black-Indigenous and other mixed Indigenous identities, young Indigenous mothers, land and water protection, reparations, Indigenous futurisms, cultural protection/revitalization, wellbeing and other conversations that are not prioritized meaningfully in the reconciliation process or get funded under typical reconciliation programs.

Both applications must be submitted to be considered complete.

Individual Application (What do you want to learn):

Each person on your team needs to complete this on their own. We want to get to know YOU – who are you, what are you hoping to learn this year and what draws you to this work?

Apply for Individuals here!

Team Application (What do you hope to create as a team?):

Your whole team must fill this out together. We want to know what brings you all together, how do you work together and what dreams do you have for your community?

Apply for Teams here!

What will the 2022-23 NLC cohort look like?

From June 2022 to May 2023, 4Rs will be bringing together a cohort of young people who will form a National Learning Community – the NLC. We are looking for groups of 2-4 young people to apply together as teams, to build capacity as community organizers using the 4Rs Framework and the knowledge of a network of teachers. As part of the NLC, each team will:

  • Participate in a co-created learning journey, beginning with a personalized orientation with the 4Rs team and a virtual meet and greet with your NLC cohort in July 2022.

  • Join us for an in-person learning/planning retreat in early August 2022 and a closing retreat in May 2023.

  • Participate in bi-monthly online All Teams Meetings to connect with other NLC members, learn from one another and gain more skills in hosting/planning work.

  • Opportunities to participate in learning conversations with organizers and leaders from BIPOC movements and organizations.

  • Receive an honorarium for personal use, and $10,000 in funding to be used towards hosting a gathering or project in 2022-2023

  • Have the opportunity to learn from another NLC project/gathering.

  • Benefit from the experiences of a homebase of shared communication, resources, people and support from the 4Rs Youth Movement team throughout the year.
