APPLY TODAY TO JOIN THE 2019 NATIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY
In 2019, as an initiative under the Canada Service Corps, 4Rs is setting out to create opportunities for youth-led reconciliation initiatives that support dialogue and action that pushes us beyond buzzwords, towards a process of generational change. This year we are looking to discover what it looks like to invest in a type of reconciliation that focuses on the needs of communities whose voices continue to be overshadowed. In that spirit, we are calling together teams of young people between the ages of 18-30, to join our National Learning Community of facilitators (NLC) who will develop reconciliation initiatives in places and spaces relevant to them.
We have a community focused policy at 4Rs, and are looking for teams of 2-5 young people to walk with one another on this learning journey. For those of you drawn to apply to the NLC through this application process, we hope to see a shared passion for your community, however you define it.
While we encourage all types of reconciliation based dialogue, we are prioritizing applications focusing around: displaced Indigenous peoples and refugees, two-spirit and LGBTQ+ youth, BIPOC relations and identities, Black-Indigenous and other mixed Indigenous identities, young Indigenous mothers, land and water protection, Indigenous futurisms, cultural protection/revitalization, and other conversations that are not prioritized meaningfully in the reconciliation process. We are also interested in White-settler led spaces whose intentions are to do the important work of anti-racism and educating within their communities.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ron at ronald@4rsyouth.ca.
The National Learning Community will be announced the week of January 14th, 2019.
